Samadhi – Lynne

Another Maui Moment

Hi, I am Lynne! In 1982 I met my Spiritual teacher, Rama, and from then until now I have been a student of Self-Discovery. I cofounded Dharma Center in 1998 where I have been teaching meditation and mindful living. I live an ordinary life. I am a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. I am also a mystic, awakening into soul, and awareness.

Learning is my hobby, my career, perhaps my addiction. The western academic tradition awards students degrees and certificates. In the west I have earned a B.A. in Psychology, an M.A. in Computer Education, and multiple Teaching Credentials. As a public educator I worked with a wide variety of students and their families. I taught not only gifted students, but students who had learning differences, emotional challenges or mental illness. Today, I am creating a program that will offer support to families and caregivers. My intention is to empower families and caregivers with balance, peace and energy through meditation and mindfulness practice.

The WEST meets the EAST:

Eastern spiritual studentship for me included direct experience through mysticism, meditation, dreaming, and writing. As in the west, much of my active learning included attending lectures and reading books from a variety of traditions such as Taoism, Hinduism, Buddhism. In the Eastern tradition, much of the teaching is wordless transmission from teacher to student. For almost 30 years I have studied the art of meditation and self-discovery. For 13 years I taught free dharma classes. In the Eastern tradition, when the student has completed a series of tasks, instead of a diploma a student receives empowerments. I was graced with several empowerments, and a spiritual name, ‘Samadhi’.

I am hosting a book club meditation retreat the first Sunday of every month. Check the Dharma Center calendar for my weekly meditation classes which are typically on Thursday nights at 7:00. I look forward to meeting you!
